scholarships
Brian Janzer Scholarship Update: The Hartford Youth Football Club proudly sponsors the Brian Janzer Scholarship, a $500 scholarship given to a Hartford High School senior for the college of their choice. This scholarship is in memory of Brian Janzer, a former youth football player who passed away in a tragic accident in 2006 at the age of 18. To qualify for this award, individuals must have played all three years in youth football, and have a 3.0 grade average in high school. The award is presented by the HYFB club president, along with Michael and Joan Janzer, Brian's parents, at the HUHS Summer football meeting in June each year.

Hartford Youth Football Players and Families:
We hope that you and your child have enjoyed another season of football. Please mark your calendars for these important dates.

2011 Banquets
On Wednesday and Thursday evening, November 9th and 10th, the Orange and Black teams held their end of season banquets. approximately 190 players along with their families turned out between the two nights. We were treated to a fantastic pot luck dinner, organized by Pam Beine, with the meat provided by MJ’s of Hartford. This year we added a little twist to the nights by offering door prizes and raffles. The door prizes were given to lucky winners that were entered into a drawing if they registered for the 2012 season at the banquet. Along with the door prizes, there was the autographed helmet raffle. The helmet’s were signed by all the seniors on the 2011 HUHS varsity squad. All monies collected will be matched by the club and donated to the Hartford Food Pantry.  The night was capped off with each grade level receiving awards from their respective coaches. All grade levels receive a participation trophy, while 7th and 8th grade teams also hand out additional indiviudal awards. Among those are the Opichka and Ziebel awards. The Opichka award is given to the outstanding defensive player on the team, and the Ziebel award is given to the outstanding offensive player on the team.  Those award winners along with the rest are posted on the Team pages of the website.

On behalf of the board of directors for the 2011 season, we would like to thank all of you for your help this season, and for getting your sons everywhere they needed to be. We also would like to wish all of you a very happy holiday season and a prosperous winter and look forward to seeing all of you again in 2012!

2012 Banquet Dates:
The banquet dates for the 2012 football season are as follows: Wednesday, November 7th from  6-8pm for the Orange teams; and Thursday, November 8th from 6-8pm for the Black teams.

2011 Christmas Parade
On Saturday, November 12th, our club once again participated in the Hartford Christmas Parade. We were fortunate enough to have 32 players volunteer to walk with us! 16 boys arrived in full uniform, and coach Mark Oechsner worked with them on running plays as we walked the parade route. Much to our delight, this was met with resounding applause each time. The other 16 boys were decked out in jerseys and Santa hats as they handed out candy, fliers, or just waved to the large crowd, showing everyone in Hartford what a great club we have. A big thank you has to go out to not only Mark Oechsner for working with the players but also to Ben and Pam Feucht, as well as Mike Chivas and Jim Raffensperger. They were parents who volunteered to help as we walked. I was extremely proud of our turnout and I hope everyone who watched us enjoyed it as much as we did.
